Dean's Advisory Council
Dean's Advisory Council
One of the great strengths of the College of Arts and Sciences is the
enthusiasm and dedication of its volunteers. Drawn from the most distinguished
alumni and friends of the College, the Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) consists of
accomplished corporate leaders and highly regarded professionals.
Working together, the 34 members of the DAC help the College strengthen its
ties with alumni, community, and corporate and governmental leaders. They
often provide the crucial link between students and the professional world:
creating avenues for interaction with corporate leaders and mentors; and
internships and job placement. What's more, all council members are energetically
working to encourage alumni to become actively engaged in the life of the
College. And they are dedicated to assisting the College in securing the
resources needed to accomplish its goal of providing a first rate education to
all of its students. In 2006-2007 the members gave more than $200,000 in
unrestricted support to the College and were instrumental in securing another
$3M in student scholarships and program support.
Their life stories, personal successes and loyal support of the College set an
inspiring example for our students, our faculty, and our alumni and friends. It
is with a sincere and deep sense of gratitude that the College acknowledges the
unique, invaluable services of the members of this esteemed council.
Letter from the Chair of the Dean's Advisory Council
UB's College of Arts and Sciences has enjoyed a remarkable academic year. As Chairperson of the College's volunteer Dean's Advisory Council, I'm proud to part of its success.
The achievements of faculty, students, alumni and staff foretell a bright future for the College. And he College is earning national recognition as it enhances its academic programs for students, recruits talented new faculty, continues its tradition of engaging in cutting-edge research, and strengthens community outreach programs.
One of the great benefits of being involved in the life of the College as a donor and volunteer is the chance to meet the talented faculty and students who make the College such an exciting learning environment. Learning is a life-long experience and participating in the life of the University offers a unique opportunity for all involved to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
On behalf of the students and faculty of the College, I thank you for your interest and continuing support and generosity. I am especially pleased to recognize, celebrate and thank the alumni and friends whose philanthropic kindnesses are so exceptionally important to the vitality and growth of the College. With your help and continued support the College will continue to grow much to the benefit of current and future UB students and to all who are touched by the first-rate education that they are receiving.
Sincerely,
Eileen S. Silvers
