Sociology collaborates with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery on an Educational Discovery Initiative

Faculty and graduate students of the Department of Sociology have joined with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in an Educational Discovery Initiative.

The multiphase, in-depth study is designed “to understand the current state of arts education from the perspective of those most directly involved in it on a daily basis,” said Shelley Kimelberg, a research scientist and University at Buffalo liaison with the project. “We seek to develop a clear picture of how our teachers, and by extension, our children, experience art education in the classroom.” Professors Robert Adelman and Robert Wagmiller of the Department of Sociology are the principal investigators on the project.
